The Seraph team has returned from a successful shoot in the Comoros where they spent 11 days capturing footage for a documentary about development and education in the impoverished African country.  Most of the filming took place in primary schools in remote villages in Anjouan, the poorest of the four islands that make up the Comorian archipelago.  Director, Jana Murray, is delighted with the footage that was shot.

Comoros is a colourful country!  It’s a tropical paradise with green rainforest, white sand, azure sea and deep blue sky, and the Comorians are colourful too in their national dress, so the shots look stunning.

In an island where the electricity is only switched on in the evening and a shower is a bucket of water, the shoot was certainly a memorable one for Jana.

We visited many villages in remote mountain locations where the children had never seen a white person before so I was a laughing stock!  The Comorians are warm, open and fun loving people and it was a pleasure to spend time getting to know them.

The film was commissioned by a partnership of NGOs including MAEECHA in Comoros and Partage and ID in France.  It will be used to raise awareness of the need for education reform in the Comoros and will be aired on websites and on television.
